Dave Disch was born and raised in Madison WI, were he still resides with his wife Yvonne. In January 1970 Dave entered the US Army and did his basic training at Ft Campbell, Ky, then went to Ft Sill Ok, for Artillery Training. In July 1970 he went to South Vietnam and was there till July 1971. He was assigned to Company C, 1/6th 198th Light Infantry Brigade, out of Chu Lai, (Americal Division) as a RTO with the forward Observer team.
In July of 1980, Dave surrendered his life to the Lord Jesus Christ and has been involved with different ministries with his local church and outside of the church. In July of 1999, after 28 years, he returned to Vietnam with other Christian Vietnam vets to help reach the Vietnamese with the gospel of Christ through various humanitarian means. From this time going back, God had laid a desire on his heart to reach out to other veterans at home, and to share Christ with them in different ways. He has been involved with his local VFW. During the past four years, he has helped organize Tributes to Veterans, in Madison. Dave has also been involved with helping return lost Dog Tags of Vietnam vets, through a ministry started by another veteran who had also gone back to Vietnam.
The last 6 months of his tour he was assigned to the 23rd MP Co in Chu Lai. After Vietnam, Dave was stationed at Ft Hood, TX with the 502nd MP Co, 2nd Armored Div, till March of 1972. Dave returned home and served 1 yr with the 132nd Red Arrow Div in Madison, and received his Honorable Discharge in March of 1973.
